The official name being People's Republic of China (PRC),. It is the world's populated country with a populations of over 1.4 billion.  China is the world's fastest growing major economy. The PRC is the 2nd largest country in the world by land area. China has become one of the world’s most-watched and hottest inbound and outbound tourist markets. It is the third most visited country in the world. Tourist resources in China can be divided into 2 main groups: natural sites; mountains, lakes, valleys, caves and waterfalls -  historical and cultural sites;  The Great Wall for example, is a symbol of the Chinese nation, and is also a prime example of historical sites that have become major tourist attractions.


Beijing, sometimes called as Peking, is the capital of the PRC and one of the most populous cities in the world. The population as of 2012 was 20,700,000. Beijing is the second largest Chinese city by  after  Shanghai and is the nation's political, cultural and educational center . At the historical heart of Beijing lies the  Forbidden City, the enormous palace compound that was the home of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Xi’an is the capital of Shaanxi province and is one of the oldest cities is China  with more than 3,100 years of history Xi'an is the undisputed root of Chinese civilization. Because of the city's many historical monuments and a plethora of ancient ruins and tombs in the vicinity it is considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in China. The city has many important historical sites, such as the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang and his Terracotta. There are several burial mounds, tombs located in the city.  Xi'an also contains some 800 royal mausoleums and tombs from with some of them yielding hundreds of sculpted clay soldiers, and remains of sacrificial temples from the Han era. Guilin means "forest of Sweet Osmanthus” ", due to the large number of fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees located in the city. The city its self has long been renowned for its unique scenery of Karst topography and is one of China's most popular tourist destinations. Guilin is a beautiful city. The town center is surrounded by two rivers and four lakes and studded with smooth sided mountains. There are many scenic places within short traveling distance of Guilin. These include Longsheng with its famous Longji rice terraces; the Lijiang River, Yangshuo, a small county downstream from Guilin; and much more. Guilin itself is like most other medium size Chinese cities, it has a large number of western-style hotels, tourists and is relatively free of air pollution. What makes it special is its short distances to many picturesque limestone mountains and formations.
